BIO

Hello! My name is Christian Paxton and thank you for your interest in my work. A bit about myself…

I am a storyteller—drawn to narrative for how it links us to one another, our ancestors, & ourselves. In its many forms, storytelling offers us a chance to reflect upon and deepen our humanity.

From a young age, I wrote stories and plays, cast my classmates or siblings (thanks baby bro), and performed them for friends and family.

I am drawn to stories and characters where contradiction exists and bold questions are posed. I believe as storytellers and as people, it is essential we understand who we are, the structures of oppression we operate within, our positionality to those structures, and how we hope to reshape the world.

In developing my craft as a performer, I have been fortunate to learn from some very wise teachers across the arts, academia, and less conventional settings (restaurants— shoutout to my hospitality folks). My craft would be nothing without them. No story exists in a vacuum. Connection [love] is always at the root.

Today, I live in Brooklyn, New York and pursue storytelling on the stage and in front of the camera, as well as in community spaces and classrooms. I just completed my Master’s Degree in Applied Theater, and am currently pursuing and creating work where art, connection, education, social justice, and critical thinking are integrated.
